Marco Papa - guitar and compositions

Paul Engelmann - sax alto
Emanuele cali - drums

description

Kenoma is a Jazzcore-Crossover trio created by guitarist and composer Marco Papa. The aim is to unite various musical influences developed throughout his career into a single ensemble, featuring compositions that incorporate elements of both traditional and contemporary jazz, while also pushing the boundaries into rock and experimental music. The trio leaves ample room for improvisation, exploring it comprehensively in various performative forms. To achieve this, Marco collaborates with saxophonist Paul Engelmann, an active musician in the Berlin jazz and improvisation scene, and the versatile artist Emanuele Cali on drums.

description

Songs is a collection of compositions that I would describe as calm, reflective, yet playful and powerful in their mandalic breaths. For this

particular recording, the pieces are arranged for a guitar trio. To achieve this, I invited two accomplished musicians from the Berlin jazz scene with whom I regularly collaborate in different ensembles and projects: Daigo Nakai on double bass and Chikara Aoshima on drums. We all share a strong passion for artists who are considered undisputed masters of the jazz scene, such as Thelonious Monk, Bill Frisell, Paul Motian, and the sound of ECM productions.

description

In July 2022, during one of our concerts, we had the opportunity to share the stage with clarinetist Claudia Risch, adding a new dimension to our already well-established duo sound. Enthusiastic about this collaboration, we decided to capture the essence of that moment through a recording session at a private studio in Friedrichshagen. The result of this session, which includes six improvised tracks and two original compositions, gave birth to Impetus, a project that continues to evolve and carry our musical language forward with regular live performances.

description

UGO plays saxophone, guitar, drums and clarinet, and is split in three distinct elements. UGO lives in Berlin, but gets inspiration from different parts of the world and tries to synthesize his experiences through original compositions. UGO grew up listening to punk, jazz, european free jazz, african percussions and Bach, and it blends all these elements in the melting pot of its own improvisations and compositions. He is bold and unafraid of breaking rules, especially those hindering the flux of his own creativity
